Myrtlewood is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful in the world. It is a very slow growing tree native to southwestern Oregon and northwestern California that can take 80-120 years to reach full size. Its color is usually influenced by the minerals in the soil, ranging from blonde to black with many hues of honey, browns, satin grays, with reds and greens in between.
A highly exclusive wood since no two planks are the same. It is precisely this wood that is used on the top of this beautiful Patrick James Eggle 96 Drop Top, with a simply stunning Tobacco Sunburst finish. This is a gorgeous guitar with an ash body and a roasted maple neck and fingerboard, hand-built by Patrick Eggle, who has created some of the highest level guitars on the market over the past decades.
His clients include the likes of Albert Lee and Rory Gallagher, to name just a few. And this has been achieved with a small workshop and a few assistants. No large-scale marketing, just work by hand, with attention to detail and word of mouth.
